Please be careful about rewriting history. Amazing Grace is built on the pentatonic scale and it MAY have been based on an African Sorrow Chant. To many it seems likely. But it is unknown. Anyway, the form does not matter. Rather it is the content of correction and redemption that matters.

My personal favorite is from John 8:32, “…and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,” which is carved above the south entrance to the tower at the University of Texas, where I went to school.

I never realized how much the Bible influenced our culture and lives until I started really reading it. The Great Bible Timeline has been a great entree into reading the Bible, making it much less intimidating. I would recommend it to anyone (and do!).

How special is that time of prayer and the connection I feel when I pray the “Our Father”, since the mass at St. Patrick when you asked all attending to close our eyes and open our hands when praying the “Our Father”.

We really enjoyed the “God Chat” that we accidently found on the website.
It certainly brings The Lord’s Prayer into focus. Now when we pray we we will have better insight into the real meaning of the “OUR FATHER”.

The yeast analogy is a good one. It is amazing how goodness and kindness rubs off on those who are the recipients of even just a little bit of it.

Your other thought, about the examples Jesus used to tell stories to the people of his day, makes me wonder what kinds of examples he would use if he were here today.

I really enjoyed that Chat with God. I really hope you will bring it to the St. Joseph’s Mass. What a great way to start my morning. I will be thinking about The Lord’s Prayer all day and what it truely means. Thank you for being such a great asset to our parish.
